<b>Special Laptop Tasks</b>

* Clone laptop HDD's

* Check laptops in good cupboard, get them up and running if at least p3 550 or Cel 600 (try and use 10G+HDD and 256 RAM, more RAM if possible -> Send them to be QC'ed and tested. If faulty or under spec stick in ebay laptop cupboard (recover RAM - pc100+ /HDD - 10G and higher/CD burner/DVD, keep laptop screws and drive cradles with laptop) See LaptopQuickGuideNotes for info.

* Create a Laptop QA guide based on the regular QA guide. Check Tech Spec to see if there are some items that need to go on there, eg battery test. Ask Kylie for source docs. Also see LaptopQuickGuideNotes

Note: Please remember to try and update the laptop inventory. Add new laptops to the inventory and assign them a laptop number as above. The inventory file is in /home/workshop/laptop_inventory).

<b>Warehouse</b>

<b>Always</b>

As monitors are donated, recycle them if they are obviously e-waste.

<i>Tasks</i>

1. Sort out server bits and pieces; Clean up around and near servers (use boxes, label them). Label items if they can be sold on ebay. (Rob)

<b>FrontDesk - Front of House - Tony is Coordinator</b>

Refer to new front desk checklist for a list of common tasks we need to do when working at the front desk.

* Prepare a spreadsheet to make doing the daily balance easier

Note: Each time you need to print check Control Centre->Peripherals->Printers->Instances->Settings to see if the printer is set for long edge (guide, forms), short edge (flyers) or none (single page forms).

<b>Documentation and website</b>

* Update documents - CD Testing How to, Monitor Testing, possibly others. This may require some prior knowledge

* Markup all outstanding documents (see above re transfers).

* Make a poster (A4) of the Internet Acceptable Use Policy and put it up in the training room. Remove the existing one. :)

* Documentation revision.

<b> Projects </b>

* Distro maintenance and upgrades - Mohan/Kylie/Barry

* Database redevelopment and extension - Jan is the project manager.

<b>Donations/E-waste Scheduled to come in</b>

* There may be individuals dropping items off.

Things to remember: Please see the <a href="http://vic.computerbank.org.au/donations/">donations</a> page for current e-waste fees. Fees can be reduced (50% off) or waivered if someone is low income. Any one returning a Computerbank system for recycling shouldn't be charged a fee (part of our service to them).

It can often be reassuring to let the person know what we do with the gear, ie assure them we recycle with care for the environment. Lastly, be sure to organise a receipt (recycling e-waste can be claimed as a business expense). All e-waste service fees include GST.

If possible offer people an Ubuntu CD to try at home.

Practice good manual handling techniques when moving computer equipment.
